Capabilities

We cover the full evaluation lifecycle, and we build the systems that carry the data. The two are not separate practices here — the quality of an evaluation is usually decided by how well the field operation and the data pipeline were designed.

Evaluation design and analysis

  • Baseline, midline, endline and impact evaluations
  • Theory of change development, evaluability assessment and indicator refinement
  • Quasi-experimental design — matched comparison groups, difference-in-differences, propensity score matching
  • Power analysis and minimum detectable effect estimation
  • Mixed-methods integration and results-framework population

Data collection at scale

  • Multi-county and multi-country field operations
  • Recruitment, training and certification of enumerator cohorts
  • Household, school, facility and institutional surveys
  • Child assessment, classroom and learning-environment observation
  • Focus group discussions, key informant interviews and participatory methods

Digital data systems

  • Electronic data capture — ODK, KoboToolbox and equivalent platforms
  • Panel identifiers and longitudinal tracking across evaluation waves
  • Real-time quality-assurance dashboards, back-checks and spot-check systems
  • Secure hosting, data governance and data protection architecture
  • Systems modernisation, integration and cloud migration

Learning and advisory

  • Measurement and impact frameworks
  • Monitoring, evaluation and learning system design
  • Sector and stakeholder mapping and situational analysis
  • Knowledge translation — turning findings into decisions teams can act on
  • Dissemination, validation workshops and capacity strengthening

Sectors

Most of our work sits in one of these, with education and early childhood development the deepest.

Education and early childhood

Learning assessment, early childhood development, school quality, examinations and assessment systems, teacher and caregiver practice.

Health and social protection

Facility quality assessment and accreditation, reproductive health, disability inclusion, ageing and protection services.

Agriculture, economic and public sector

Agricultural research and value chains, impact investment measurement, gender and economic rights, governance and civil society.

How we work

Four commitments that shape every assignment.

Design for the comparison that comes later

A baseline is only worth what the endline can do with it. We design sampling, instruments and identifiers so the later comparison is possible, not merely hoped for.

Certify the field team, not just the instrument

Enumerators are trained against explicit thresholds and certified before deployment. Nobody who has not met the standard collects data.

Separate the people who produce from the people who check

No deliverable is approved by the person who produced it, and field supervision is independent of field collection.

Say what the data cannot support

Limitations are stated in the report, not discovered by the reader. Confidence is more useful to a client than certainty.

Tell us what you are trying to find out.

Method follows the question. We are happy to discuss approach before there is a terms of reference.
